SELECTIONS FROM THE NUTCRACKER SUITE

AND OTHER MERRY BALLETS

Ballet at the Park presents “Selections From The Nutcracker Suite & Other Merry Ballets”, this Saturday, December 3, 2011, starting at 5:00 p.m., at the Rizal Park Open-Air Auditorium, Manila. The performing groups are the Vella C. Damian School of Ballet at the St. Paul College Pasig Ballet and at the New Manila Ballet Centre. Joining them as special guests are the Dance Concert Company and The Vella C. Damian School of Ballet, Main Studio. Featured soloist is Maria Criselda Kison, who will dance the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy.  Other dances to lilting  Filipino Christmas Carols and a series of numbers previously performed at the Association of Ballet Academies of the Philippines latest Danseries project will open the program. Admission is free of charge.

Ballet at the Park is a public service project of the National Parks Development Committee (NPDC), under Executive Director Juliet H. Villegas, in partnership with the featured dance school or dance company. For this Saturday, Ballet at the Park partners with the Vella C. Damian School of Ballet at the St. Paul College Pasig Ballet, at the New Manila Ballet Centre and the Main Studio, under the artistic direction of Ms. Vella C. Damian. Mr. Federico A. Edos, the NPDC Chief of the Cultural & Public Affairs Division, is the Executive In Charge of the project. Gie V. Arnold writes the script.

“Selections From the Nutcracker Ballet & Other Merry Ballets” is composed of the following programme: Part 1 “Maligayang Pasko” (Choreography: Malou Bugayong) – KUMUKUTIKUTITAP and MANO PO NINONG, MANO PO NINANG; Part 2  “Encore” (Choreography: Malou Bugayong) – VARIACIONES, CLASSICAL SUITE and DANCING TO VIVALDI; and Part 3  “Excerpts from the Nutcracker Ballet” (Choreography: Malou Bugayong, Maria Lora Benedicto) – DANCE OF THE CHILDREN, DANCE OF THE DOLLS, and DANCE OF THE SNOW FAIRIES, SPANISH DANCE, ARABIAN DANCE, CHINESE DANCE, DANCE OF THE REEDFLUTES, RUSSIAN DANCE, DANCE OF THE COTTON CANDY CLOWNS, WALTZ OF THE FLOWERS, SUGAR PLUM FAIRY VARIATION, CODA, APOTHEOSIS and Curtain Call.
